Her headnotes are often more extensive than the recipes, touching on everything from culinary lore to suggestions for repurposing leftovers in true thrifty Florentine fashion. Handsome photography places the emphasis on food rather than scenery, with an occasional evocative glimpse of the Uffizi or Brunelleschi’s dome.
