"this is an effort to continue the essay of Doreen G. Fernandez in 1994 about 'food in literature.' This is an introductory compilation of excerpts and sample works that show Filipino food in accordance to what our poets, essayists, authors, and other agents of the arts wrote."

Written in Tagalog and in English, this 220 page volume includes an essay from Fernandez herself, as well as contributions by notable scholars such as Felice Prudente Sta. Maria. There are even songs with lyrics and music, and many illustrations. It's a moving testament to the importance of Fernandez to culinary scholarship.

This is a 2020 release. As the work of an underfunded government project, it is printed on paper that we would call passable for now but which will likely show signs of aging within a decade. Still, this is a fascinating collection that we believe deserves wide exposure to readers who are interested.
